Shane’s House

Sober Living Facility

Welcome to Shane’s House, a Sober Living Facility at Little Creek Lodge

There is a destiny which makes us brothers; none goes his way alone. – Edwin Markham

Shane’s House is sober living dedicated to helping residents build a strong foundation in the process of recovery. We built Shane’s House to fill a need in our community. Shane’s House is healthy structured sober living where residents can take the time they need to work on their recovery. Here, young men learn what it means to grow and become empowered.

All potential residents are interviewed to see if they are a good fit for the house.

How does Shane’s House “work”?

Residents of Shane’s House pay monthly. Included in the monthly rent is:

  • 24-hour staffing
  • Laundry Room
  • Private bathrooms in each bedroom
  • Cable TV Big Screen
  • Wi-Fi

Residents at Shane’s House are required to take an active role in their recovery by attending Little Creek Outpatient services, which accepts most insurance. All residents are required to attend daily AA/NA meetings, obtain a sponsor and attend home group sessions. Residents have easy access to daily meetings at Rule 62, an AA Clubhouse on the adjacent property. Residents must either attend a local college or seek employment and are allowed to have their cars. All residents must be willing to submit to random drug tests.

Residents are also asked to attend a weekly dinner, and there are two “house meetings” every week. Shane’s House does have a curfew: 11:00pm on weeknights, and 1:00pm on weekends. The men at Shane’s House are responsible for the upkeep of their home, as well as for the cooking of their own meals.

The ultimate goal of Shane’s House is to help young man, between the ages of 18 and 30, find themselves again, so they can reintegrate into society. Here, they can learn what it is to have responsibilities and to be held accountable for their actions, so they can take those tools and build a new life for themselves when they leave.

Time for work and time for play

Little Creek Lodge has always supported time spent outdoors, and residents from Shane’s House are invited and encouraged to take advantage of the track and field area, volleyball court, basketball court and on-site gym. Shane’s House residents are allowed to have their own computers, smartphones and gaming consoles as well, for rainy days and time spent alone. We also have a firepit on the property for residents to use and enjoy.

How long can you stay at Shane’s House?

There is no set amount of time a resident can live at Shane’s House. We ask for a three-month commitment, but residents could stay up to nine months, if they wish; research shows that people who are in sober environments for at least a year have the greatest chances at a successful recovery. Shane’s House was built to empower the resident to move into a healthy future, but without the added stressors that, say, going home, living alone or staying on a college campus might induce. Our residents have a certain level of autonomy, and the flexibility to stay – or go – when they are ready to take the next step.
